Main Lessons - We started off the school year with form drawing, and now we are learning about three letters a week through story. The stories tie back into what the girls are doing in their herbal adventures, gardening, and any topics I feel they need a little guidance with. For example, for letter "F" I told the story of "The Fisherman's Wife" because I hoped it might help Isla gain a little perspective with her unquenchable thirst for new toys...
Cooking - We made lots of things to go along with what we are learning about herbs and spices, and did a lot of harvesting from our garden. Here are just a few of the things we made: raw blackberry pie, rosemary shortbread, avocado-spirulina smoothies, masala chai, pumpkin vanilla spiced almond milk, chayote agua fresca...
Making Remedies: Astragalus Tincture and Elderberry Syrup for Cold and Flu Season - This really tied back in to the first couple of three-day letter stories I told, where the protagonists were young female herbalists...
Crafting...
Free Play - Most of our day is free play, and 80% of it is rich, imaginative play indoors and out. There is also constructing of marble runs, block castles, puzzles, inventing new art projects, giving puppet shows, and making elaborate forts...
Gardening...
Nature Walks...
Field Trips...
